About me

Honored athlete Daniel Shribman played two sports at Ivy League school Dartmouth College. As a forward for the hockey team, Daniel Shribman was a four-year letter winner in hockey and earned one letter for men's lacrosse. He played in 93 total hockey games for the "Big Green" and scored 11 cumulative goals.

In 2007, Daniel Shribman was awarded the first Derek Hines Unsung Hero Award during the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Frozen Four hockey championship tournament. The award is named for Army soldier 1st Lieutenant Derek Hines who was killed by insurgents in Afghanistan in 2005. Lt. Hines was an accomplished hockey player at West Point. Daniel Shribman was chosen to receive the award for his leadership on and off the ice.

Daniel Shribman took the spring term of 2006 off from school in order to travel to South Africa to teach and coach soccer, completing a double course load before he left. Daniel Shribman was also a two-time winner of Dartmouth's Smoyer Unsung Hero Award. Given to the player who makes the biggest intangible impact on Dartmouth hockey, the award honors 1967 alumnus Bill Smoyer, who died during a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Daniel Shribman's high school years were spent at Deerfield Academy, a prestigious prep school in Massachusetts. He was a multi-sport athlete at the academy, with letters in football, lacrosse, and hockey. Daniel Shribman was also named the Boston Globe Prep Athlete of the Year for the 2002-2003 season.
